The Chickmagalur district in Karnataka state is famous at the national level as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi fought the by election in this place in late 70's. Then Chickmagalur became famous when music maestro Ilayaraja sung and tuned the song 'Chickmagalura Chikkamallige'..for the film starring Shivaraj Kumar and Nivedhita Jain in 'Shivasainya'.
Now 'Chickmagalura Chikkamallige' music maestro Ilayaraja song beginning is kept as the title for the film by former bureaucrat of Karnataka government Channagangappa in his fourth directorial venture. Channagangappa directed 'Karimaleya Kaggattalu' starring Thara, 'Nannaseya Hoove' starring Jaggesh and Monica Bedi (controversial heroine) and 'Soundarya' in the last year starring Ramesh, Sakshi Shivananad in the lead role.
'CC' a musical love story film of Channagangappa in which the debutants Shravanth, Jagadish Nagarajaiah and Radhika Gandhi (sister of actress Pooja Gandhi) play key roles. Kalyan is scoring music for the six songs and introducing new singers Bharath, Shruthi, Vijaykrishna. Ajai Warior has sung a song in this film. There are four bit songs in this film says Kalyan who picked new talents in a search he made from 25 singers.
Writer, director Channagangappa is inspired from the 'Baba of Mohanjaro' written by Rabindranath Tagore. He has seen the similar tale of the novel in the interiors of Malnad region in Karnataka. He is shooting in two schedules at Samse, Kalasa, Ballalarayanadurga, Sirsi, Yellapura, Chickmagalur surroundings.
J.G.Krishna who got the state award from Channnagangappa's film 'Nannaseya Hoove' is expecting national award for his camera work from this film.
