One of the brilliant directors of Kannada cinema Kavitha Lankesh after a series of thought provoking films like 'Bimba, Deveeri, Alemaari, Preethi Prema Pranaya and Thananam Thanam' is back after a brief exile. Her new film 'Avva' is based on an episode in 'Mussanjeya Katha Prasanga' a novel of her father late P.Lankesh that won the Sahitya Academy award. For this script Kavitha's late father P.Lankesh in association with B.Chandre Gowda have written the dialogues long ago.
Kavitha is directing this film for pyramid Saimira Theatre Limited. Suresh Urs is the editor, Madhu Ambat is the cinematographer and Issac is the music director for this film. Kavitha has written the screenplay besides doing the direction.
Top notch in the Kannada film industry actress Shruthi, Vijay of Dhuniya and Rangayana Raghu (both state award winners for 2006) are in the lead roles. The Karnataka Home Minister M.P.Prakash is also in an important role of 'Avva'.
Enagi Nataraj, Sudhendra Prasad, Ashwath Ninasam, Arundhati Jaatkar, Hanumakka, Nataraj Honnavalli are also in the cast.
Smitha is making debut as heroine from this film.
