The second Bangalore International Film Festival-2008 is organized from January 3 for one week by Suchitra Film Society that is supported by Government of Karnataka. 121 films from 41 countries will be screened in this prestigious film festival.
The films are from Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Kurdistan, and Morocco. The films, which are still in the experiment level, will also be screened.
The Suchitra Film Society situated in Bangalore is the leading body in conducting cultural activities for the past 37 years. 25 representatives from different parts of the country are taking part in the festival. 10 foreign delegates are invited to attend the festival this year.
Three Kannada films have been specially picked to be a part of the Indian Panorama, namely Daatu, Kada Beladingalu and Moggina Jade. There are nine other films in the Indian Panorama.
The special features of this festival would be an exclusive DVD section which will screen South African films including Sarafina and Cry, the beloved country, both by award winning South African director Darrell James Roodt.
A book on veteran directors M.R. Vittal and Girish Kasaravalli is released on this occasion. There will be news bulletin every day on the developments of festival days, says Girish Kasaravalli, the director of 2nd Bangalore International Film Festival-2008.
