Director Ameer who came out with a spectacular showing with 'Paruthiveeran' was part of the audio release function of the film 'Poo'. The film is directed by Sasi and stars Srikanth along with Parvathy. S. S. Kumaran debuts as music director.
The dais was filled with talented writer-directors and a few actors. Since the tone of 'Poo' is quite literary in nature, most of the speakers spoke about literature in cinema'.and then came 'Jayam' Ravi who spoke about cinema devoid of the literary tone that was initially set.
The next speaker was Ameer and the talented filmmaker started off with a dig at 'Jayam' Ravi by saying 'the literary flavor was over and cinema had walked in'. He also went on to add in a light vein by saying that since 'Jayam' Ravi was called upon; he thought the actor might have published a few books.
After talking about director Sasi and his approach to films, the director had a healthy dig at the press in a jocular vein.
'Where ever I go these days I find numerous cameras clicking away with their flashes. Numerous stills of me are taken but then they are never published. I have also been made to pose'.but then they never are published. What we do find however are pictures of Devayani & Rajakumaran, Sundar C & Kushboo, Srikanth & Vandana. Looks like I'll have to go with a pair as well'.
He also added that pictures of 'Jayam' Ravi and Jeeva conversing in functions have been published at least a hundred times, but never the directors.
If the press is still adamant not to publish pictures of directors like him, he asked them to wait till next year as he and Mysskin are foraying as actors.
Ameer's speech was met with vociferous laughter and applause.
