'Contemporary heroines are performing well amidst severe competition', says former National award winning actress Archana.
The actress, who chose to make a comeback after almost a decade with Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram, says, 'I had no idea to re-enter cinema. When I was approached to play Dhanush's mother for Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram, I initially hesitated. But after listening to the storyline, I immediately agreed to do the film. It is very rare to come across such good stories'.
Heaping laurels on Dhanush, she says, 'It was indeed a good experience to work with actors of the current generation. They are talented and are fired up to achieve'.
Asked whether the imagination has run dry in Tamil cinema with remakes dominating, Archana says, 'It is not so. Movies like Paruthi Veeran, Mozhi and Parrattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram have different storyline. We have to encourage such films for the betterment of the industry'.
She made it clear that she would continue to act only if she comes across meaty roles.
