Vetri Maaran’s Vada Chennai is being canned briskly right now. Daniel Balaji who plays a pivotal role in the film shares his thoughts:
“Vada Chennai is going on perfectly. When I began the film, people asked me if it is something like Gangs of Wasseypur (GoW). But I would like to say that although the film (GoW) is released, Vada Chennai was conceptualized during the Polladhavan times itself. I know the story for 8 long years. A story would have been narrated in GoW, but in Vada Chennai, the detailing is immense.
I have begun shooting for the film, which is happening in a jail set erected. When you enter the sets, you will automatically get the feel of being in a jail. When you touch the door, you won’t get the feel of touching something plastic which happens in normal sets in other films. Here, they have done in solid iron to exactly get the feel.
There are around 10-12 major characters in the film. I play one of the gangsters, but I have an emotional story throughout. When other gangsters would be involved in a power play, mine would be an emotional one”.
