Films at CIFF on 17th December

On 17 December, The Memsahib from USA, Singles from Korea, As The Shadow from Italy, For Ever Flows from Bangladesh, A Thousand Kisses from Netherlands, True Love from Myanmar, French Fried Vacation from France, The Tracker from Australia, Border Caf© from Iran and Hawai Oslo from Norway were screened at the film festival.

Singles, the Korean film directed by Chil-in Kwon, is a light-hearted comedy revolving around three friends Na Nan, Joon and Dong-Mi.

Na Nan, who has many dreams about her career, is assigned the job of a waiter. She has had a miserable love life, with her lover dumping her for another woman. Her friend Dong-Mi is refused a rightful opportunity at her workplace for which she worked hard, and when her boss tries to assault her, she insults him and walks out of the job. Joon is also dumped by his girlfriend who looks for greener pastures in life.

These three friends spend time with each other, drinking and sharing their stories and dreams with each other. At this stage, Na Nan finds a guy who takes an instant liking towards her and Dong-Mi decides to become a single mom. What each of them decides about their life thereon, forms the climax.

The Tracker is an Australian film directed by Rolf De Heer. An aboriginal and experienced tracker leads two mounted cops and a civilian on the track of a black fugitive who the cops consider 'most wanted' for having murdered a white woman.

Their journey exposes the harsh reality soon. The racism exhibited by the searchers introduces us to the bitter state of affairs that exist in the world which generally seems to have no serious discriminations.

Their inner wrestles for racism proves to be more dangerous than the actual hunting for the accused, which they set out for.
