The legal wrangle over the release of UTV's 'Poi Solla Porom' has eventually been cleared. The interim stay on its release was vacated and now the movie will be released as scheduled on the 12th of this month.
A press release said that Tathvamashi Arts had filed a suit before the City Civil Court, Chennai along with an application seeking a permanent injunction restraining UTV Software Communications Limited from using the title 'Poi Solla Porom'.
A Civil Revision Petition was filed and an ex parte order was passed this morning granting interim injunction. After realizing the gravity of the situation and the urgency as the film was scheduled to release soon the court posted the matter in the Chamber at 5 pm on the 10th of September and directed Tathvamashi Arts to be present.
The Interim Order was vacated on merits and disposed of the Civil Revision Petition itself with a direction to the III Assistant Civil judge, Chennai to take up the matter on the merits on an urgent basis and pass orders thereon and direct immediate communication of the High Court's order to the III Assistant City Civil Judge, Chennai.
The matter was heard by the III Assistant City Civil Judge, Chennai at 5.30 pm on the 10th of this month. It was found that there was no order of injunction in respect of the film's title, in view of any court and UTV Software communications was free to release the film as scheduled.
