Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal has acquired the Kerala distribution rights for Rajinikanth’s Kabali for a sum of Rs. 7.5 crores. Sources say Kalaipuli S Thanu was hell bent on closing the deal for Rs. 8.5 crores.
However, Mohanlal’s Max Lab managed to seal the agreement at 7.5 crores. With the promotions for Kabali going on in full swing, the makers are gearing up for the censor certificate which is expected to be out next week.
Kerala is turning out to be a huge battle ground for Tamil stars who rake in moolah regularly there. Thanu’s previous production Theri was sold for Rs. 5.5 crores and grossed over Rs. 12.5 crores at the box office.
