Finally the South Indian Artists Association (Nadigar Sangam) elections seem to be reaching the point of certainty. A High Court Judge has appointed a one member commission with a retired judge Padmanabhan to monitor the elections and also ordered to conduct the elections within two months.
The Nadigar Sangam elections were supposed to be conducted on 15th of July but the rebel group of actors Vishal, Karhi, Nasser, Karunas and Ponvannan had filed a petition against conducting election on a weekday instead of second Sunday and also wanted a retired judge to be appointed to monitor the conduct of election. The Madras High Court had stayed the election and hence it could not be conducted the prescribed date.
The present office bearers of the Sangam that includes the President R.Sarathkumar and General Secretary Radharavi are expected to announce the date of election soon and it is certain that the new office bearers will be elected for the sangam within the September.
The group headed by Vishal will be contesting in the election against the incumbent office-bearers and senior actor Nasser is likely to be nominated for the President post.
