Popular comedian and AIADMK deputy propaganda secretary S S Chandran passed away late Friday night after attending a party meeting at Idumbavanam near Muthupet. He was 69.
According to sources in the AIADMK, the active speaker of the main opposition party of Tamil Nadu was returing to Mannarkudi after delivering a speech at the public meeting at Idumbavanam.
“He suddenly developed breathing difficulties following which he was rushed to a nearby hospital. Howevers, doctors declared him brought dead owing to a heart attack,” the sources said.
Popularly called as ‘Nagaichuvai Selvar’ by peers and fans, Chandran was a Rajya Sabha member of the AIADMK. He was fielded as the Central Chennai candidate of the party in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections but decided not to contest the polls thanks to health conditions.
