Ilayathalapathy Vijay's latest release 'Theri' is a blockbuster hit all over the world. The film that released on April 14 as a grand Tamil New Year Festival treat has been successfully running in theaters till now.
Now we have got some official information about the box office collections made by this clean and thorough entertainer directed by Atlee. The film has been apparently made at the cost of Rs.65 crores and it has grossed over a whopping Rs.150 crores.
Vijay's 'Thuppakki' released in 2012 was the first Non-Rajini starrer to join the 100 crore club and now 'Theri' from the same producer Kalaipuli.S.Thanu has collected 50% above that. This is easily the highest grosser of Vijay in his acting career of 24 years.
'Theri' starred Samantha and Amy Jackson as female leads and Vijay played an upright and emotional police officer 'Vijayakumar IPS and also a father of a cute child played by Baby Nainika. Director Mahendran played the lead villain character. G.V.Prakash Kumar had composed super hit songs.
All these put together with a highly engaging and entertaining script by Atlee and grand production values and promotions by Thanu has resulted in this phenomenal success of 'Theri'.
