Comedian Karunas, who has proved his worth as an actor in his movies like 'Katrathu Thamizh', was about to produce and act in the remake of 'Vadakku Nokki Yanthiram', a Malayalam flick.
Now the movie will be produced by Karthik Movies, the producers of 'Mirugam'. Udayashankar, who has directed Vijayakanth's 'Thavasi', will direct the film. Udayashankar had actually tried his hand in acting in the 1980s. He played the lead role in 'Raamayi Vayasukku Vanthutta'. He then said good bye to acting and began his pursuit to become a full-fledged director. He has directed a Telugu film too.
'Vadakku Nokki Yanthiram' is a story of a man, who doesn't have good looks, but marries a beautiful girl. The powerful and shocking climax is said to be the highlight of the movie. Sreenivasan, director of 'Katha Parayumbol's original version of Rajini's 'Kuselan', had directed this film.
While Karunas is playing the lead role, the unit is trying hard to rope in Simran to play his beautiful wife. Though Simran is quite impressed with the story, she is finding it difficult to give her call sheet to the film, as she has committed to the TV serial.
It may be recalled that Simran has lost the chance to act in Rajini's 'Kuselan' due to the same reason.
