Kanchana, the actress who was one of early glamour Queens to rock Telugu cinema, is making a come back as grandmother in a new film. She was popular for her bold acting in films like Preminchu Pelladu, Dharmadatha, Bhakta Tukaram, Private Master and many more. She retired after acting in Sri Datta Darsanam in 1986 from cinema. She had a serious affair with then big director and after not getting married to him, she dedicated her life to Datta Sai as his devotee and stopped acting in films. But after a long convincing sessions by director, Sandeep Vanga, she decided to play the role of a grandmother to Vijay Devarakonda in his new movie, Arjun Reddy.
The movie will see her playing an urban grandmother who will advice her young grandson on life and she is the key for the story progression. Along with her and Vijay, Sanjay Swaroop, Jia Sharma and Gopinath Bhat will be seen in crucial roles. The movie has already started shooting and Kanchana will start shooting for her part from Wednesday. Director said that he had to convince Kanchana so much and it was not easy at all. He had to have many sessions about the script and tell how important she was for the part. When asked why only her, he said it was always her in his mind when he thought about the character who needed to understand urban mindset and speak in English convincingly.
