Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed disappointment over the news of Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari's residence being bugged.
"Hope it's not true that in a democracy ministers' houses are being bugged," said Singh at Congress president Sonia Gandhi's Iftar party. "If ministers' houses are bugged, then it is not a good omen. It should be investigated. How can it happen? It should be explained by the Government in the House," ndtv.com quoted Singh as saying.
Reportedly, listening devices were recovered on Sunday from Gadkari's residence.
However, Gadkari had dismissed such reports that appeared in The Sunday Guardian as speculative. He tweeted, "Reports in a section of the media about listening devices having been found at my New Delhi residence are highly speculative."
