At a time when Samantha is apparently slowing down as she is going to marry next year, the actress has opened up about lack of "meaningful roles" down South.
"Realizing just how hard it is to get a meaningful role for a heroine in the South. I haven't signed as many films as I would have liked to only and only because there are no good roles, as disheartening as it is to say", she has said.
In a career spanning more than 7 years, Samantha has acted in about 30 movies opposite big names like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, NTR and Allu Arjun in Telugu, and Vijay and Suriya in Tamil. However, she never got so much of appreciation except when cast by Gautham Menon, the director who introduced her with 'Ye Maya Chesave' and who gave her a career best role with 'Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu'. Directed, among others, by the likes of SS Rajamouli and Vikram Kumar, Sam's career has been more about style than substance.
It's observed that Sam is of late trying to do author-backed roles. In her interview to IndiaGlitz, she said that she wants to do comedic roles.
Sam's tweets come at a time when Tapsee Pannu is walking away with laurels for the portrayal of a molestation victim in 'Pink'.
