Noted film maker Sai Paranjpe has no idea that her landmark film 'Chashme Buddoor' starring Farukh Sheikh and Deepti Naval is being remade. After a legal notice appeared in a trade magazine that the rights of the classic comedy have been bought, another report appeared in a Mumbai newspaper stating that Sanjay Gupta, director of 'Kaante' and producer of 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' has bought the rights of 'Chashme Buddoor'.
When I called up Ms Paranjpe yesterday to get her reaction she was clueless about this development and promised to talk in detail once she confirms the news. Winner of prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, Paranjpe has directed comedies like 'Chashme Buddoor' and 'Katha' besides directing Naseeruddin Shah's blind odyssey 'Sparsh' with Shabana Azmi. She repeated Shabana in the more recent 'Saaz' which was said to have been based on the rivalry between singing siblings Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Sai has also directed evergreen television serials like 'Ados Pados' and 'Hum Panchi Ek Daal Ke'.
It seems she is working on a big project and shall be making an announcement regarding the same. We at MusicMazaa promise to bring an exclusive video interview with Sai Paranjpe as soon as we can. So, stay tuned'
