As many as four biggies have competed during Diwali this year. Have a look at how these films fared at the Box Office...
1) Ae Dil Hai Mushkil:
First Weekend Revenue (India alone): Rs 35.60 crore (Fri: Rs 13.30 crore, Sat: Rs 13.10 crore, Sun: Rs 9.20 crore)
Overseas: $6.15 million (Rs 41.05 crore)
Opening Weekend collections of 'ADHM' are the highest in the careers of both Karan Johar and Ranbir Kapoor. Especially, The film has been exceptional in International markets. The flop streak of Ranbir ended with this movie. 'ADHM' is pretty good in Multiplexes.
2) Shivaay:
First Weekend Revenue (India alone): Rs 28.56 crore (Fri: Rs 10.24 crore, Sat: Rs 10.06 crore, Sun: Rs 8.26 crore)
'Shivaay' collected almost close to 'ADHM' in India and Its domination could be seen in the single screens. But, The Karan Johar directorial has a clear upper hand over Ajay Devagan's movie in the International circuit. Interestingly, Both these new releases had to sacrifice few crores on Sunday as people were busy with pooja ceremonies and bursting crackers. The collections were expected to pick up against on Monday.
3) Kashmora:
First Weekend Revenue (India alone): Rs 16 crore (Tamil Nadu: Rs 10 crore, AP & Nizam: Rs 4.9 crore, Karnataka & Rest of India: Rs 1.1 crore).
This Karthi-starrer raked in Rs 3 crore in the Overseas.
Overall, Kashmora had a good opening and it should have been better comparing with the high-costs involved. It still needs to recover a lot to make the Distributors & Exhibitors happy. Else, PVP will be forced to learn yet another lesson.
4) Dharma Yogi:
Dhanush and Trisha starrer 'Dharma Yogi' opened to poor response in Telugu States. However, It is super strong particularly in Tamil Nadu. If the positive word-of-mouth spreads, Collections might improve further in the coming days. Low-costs involved could be a major advantage here. It might end up as a profitable film in Tamil Nadu.
