Why does it keep happening to Ram Gopal Verma movies?
In a year that has not been too kind to Ram Gopal Verma, the promotion and release strategy for his films has left much to be desired. First there was this sandwiching technique that RGV had tried to apply by announcing the release of his 'Shiva' and 'Darwaza Bandh Rakho' a week before and after 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna'.
The promos did come on air announcing the release date but were inconsistent to leave much of an impact.
Later, the release of both the films were postponed and the box office outcome was there for everyone to be seen. Meanwhile he wrapped up his 'Nishabd' and while the film was in its post production, he started his magnum opus 'Ram Gopal Verma Ke Sholay'.
Somewhere towards the end of this year, he decided to start the promotion of 'Nishabd' and soon the publicity of the film kick started in a big way.
The slick'n'sensual promos were all over the small screen which indeed managed to catch quite a few eyeballs. After all an 18 something Jiah Khan acting seductively in front of a 60 something Big B was not something that could go missing.
The release period was announced to be February as well and suddenly all of this seemed to be very much planned and thought of.
Hence it comes as a surprise to see the pace go down for the publicity of 'Nishabd'. The promos that had arrived with a bang are suddenly finding them extinct with the promotion of some other films taking precedence over it. A movie that appeared to be coming to the town soon now seems to have gone slow.
One wonders if 'Nishabd' would eventually arrive in an anyways overcrowded February that has confirmed releases like Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd., Traffic Signal, Eklavya - The Royal Guard, Shakalaka Boom Boom and Metro lined up.
