Shabana Azmi has completed a yet another international venture. The film is titled Bangla Town Banquet. She plays a Bangladeshi woman Sufiya who lives in East London with her two sons.
The film is written by Tanika Gupta. She had also written a play titled Waiting Room, which was performed by Shabana at National Theatre London.
The film is directed by Hettie Macdonald. Shabana is the protagonist of the film. Priya Kalidas (Bombay Dreams) plays her daughter. Shabana is a strange woman who talks to her Pumpkins. There is a day when her husband brings home his second wife younger than their daughter.
Then she discovers the way to walk out of a ruined marriage. The film is about female bonding. It is Shabana's nth international project.
