Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, whose fast against corruption entered its seventh day Friday, is being taken to Dehradun for a check-up after his health deteriorated, said an aide.
Ramdev was taken in an ambulance from the fast site in Haridwar. “Baba Ramdev is being taken to Dehradun for hospitalisation,” an official said.
With Baba Ramdev’s condition deteriorating further Friday, doctors monitoring him advised hospitalisation. They said “weight loss” and “low pulse rate” were causing concern.
“Baba (Ramdev) has lost 1.5 kg weight in the last one day. His pulse rate is also falling. If it decreases further, it is a matter of concern,” said Yogesh Kumar Sharma, chief medical officer (CMO) of Haridwar.
“His urine examination showed the presence of albumin, which is a bad sign in terms of kidney functioning,” he said.
Ramdev Thursday took lemonade and honey at the request of doctors. The yoga guru has been on an indefinite fast after being forced to move out of Delhi’s Ramlila Ground a week ago.
