Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat in the tri one-day series international against India at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.
Virender Sehwag has back trouble and made way for the return of Sachin Tendulkar, while paceman Zaheer Khan has an injured calf, allowing Irfan Pathan to make his first appearance at the tournament.
Dhammika Prasad and Lahiru Thirimanne were left out of the Sri Lankan lineup, making way for Thisara Perera and Rangana Herath.
Sri Lanka have yet to win in two matches and were facing a must-win game, while India will leapfrog Australia to the top of the standings with a victory.
It will be India skipper M.S. Dhoni's 200th ODI appearance.
