The magnum opus of Kamal Haasan's 'Dasavatharam' has had a fabulous opening in Karnataka, especially in Bangalore. Rejoicing crowds and a mad rush for tickets was seen at many Bangalore theatres right from Thursday, a day prior to the release.
In Bangalore alone 22 theatres screened 'Dasavatharam' in prominent theatres like PVR, Inox, Fun Cinema, Fame Lido and regular theatres like Urvashi, Cauvery, Nataraj, Ajantha, Mukunda, Lakshmi, Ishwari, Sribalaji, Vijay and Pushpanjali. In cities like Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli and Belgaum the Tamil and Telugu versions of 'Dasavatharam' were released.
According to reliable sources the film 'Dasavatharam' is sold to Karnataka region for Rs.2 crores. The Kamal Haasan Fans Association arranged for a special screening of the film a day prior to the release on 13th June 2008.
There was a traffic jam next to the busy Cauvery theatre with the influx of huge crowds and police had to deploy extra forces.

At the 2:30 pm show at Cauvery theatre, fans went berserk with joy as a character in the film Balarama Reddy asks a bright boy about himself and the boy says he is Kannadiga. Cheers and whistles erupted from the audience during that scene.
