The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce has thanked Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for exempting old Tamil movies with Tamil titles from entertainment tax.
The exemption would come as a great relief to the small Tamil film producers, distributors and exhibitors, Chamber president K Rajagopal said. He assured Karunanidhi, that the chamber would continue to extend its support and co-operation for the good measures taken by the government for the progress and development of the state, especially the downtrodden, to enable it to become the number one and model state in the country.
On Sunday Karunanidhi had announced that old Tamil movies having Tamil titles would also be exempted from entertainment tax.
Earlier, the government had exempted new Tamil movies with Tamil titles from the tax.
