Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam made his first step in to the tinsel town and started his career in 1988 with 'Anando Brahma' in the direction of the renowned director Jandhyala. He made a clean sweep and attained recognition by his performance in the film 'Jayammu Nischayammura' starring Rajendra Prasad in the lead. Although he had lent his acting skills in many a films as a character artist, the film 'Nuvvu Nenu' in the direction of Teja brought him in to limelight and gave him the commercial break as an artist. He made his first directorial venture with the film 'Thokaleni Pitta' posing Naresh in the lead.
