We recently reported that the 2014 Bollywood rom-com '2 States' will be remade into Telugu. The remake rights are with Abhishek Pictures and the film will be directed by Venkat Kunchem, a VV Vinayak protege.
There is a speculation that the makers have approached Naga Chaitanya and Samantha to play the lead roles. It is also learnt that it's going to be a Telugu-Tamil bilingual. Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel of the same name, the famous novel tells the story of a Punjabi lad falling in love with a conservative Tamil Brahmin girl. In the original film, the roles were played by Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhat respectively.
Since the duo are going to tie the knot next year, they accepting to do this story is still in doubt. However, if they do, the film will benefit in a big way because there are some similarities with their real lives. Both Samantha and Chaitanya hail from culturally different backgrounds. They both are from two different States. Similarities end there as, unlike the elders of Bhagat's novel, the elders of Chay and Sam didn't become an obstacle in their coming together.
