Remember 'I - Proud To Be Indian' starring Sohail Khan in the lead that released a couple of years back? Dealing with racial abuse, it was an experimental flick that did have its moments but failed at the box office. The film was directed by debutant Puneet Sira who also penned the screenplay of the film.
Now after a long wait, Puneet is back into limelight for a biggie that he has bagged! The film is none other than 'Kurbani', a home production of Feroz Khan, which is a remake of Khan's 'Qurbani'. While the film would be directed by the mighty Khan again, the responsibility of penning a novel screenplay which is far more stylish, cool and contemporary than the original has been thrust upon Puneet. His co-writer in the film is Vekeana Dhillon.
With the legacy of an original behind them which by itself was far more ahead of its time when released in the early 80s, one waits to see how the screenplay turns in its turn of the century avtar!
