KANK fever is gripping not only India. But the whole world is Rocking-n-Rolling to Karan Johar's beat. The biggest market of Hindi movies outside of India is in UK. And the first weekend is completely booked in sixty theatres where KANK is releasing today with paid previews. Whenever a big film of Karan Johar, Yash Chopra or Aamir Khan releasing, the tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday get sold out within no time. Market in UK is so effective that even when films like 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' flopped in India, its response abroad was very positive.
Karan's last film as a director 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum' was the biggest hit in UK raking in 2.5 million Pounds and the distributors Yash Raj Films are expecting that this time around it will push to 3 million Pounds. Hindi Films entering the UK Top 10 is not unusual with K3G opening at No. 3 and 'Fanaa' at No. 6 and hence it is expected that KANK will open at least at No. 3. Last month Karan launched the audio of the film in London with Shahrukh for company.
Johar has a soft spot for London because it is a multinational hub and makes more money for the industry than the USA market.
