The two critically acclaimed filmmakers from Bollywood, Mani Rathnam and Madhur Bhandarkar were felicitated last evening at the ongoing Indian Panorama film festival in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands for their contribution to Indian cinema.
Indian Panorama film festival is the first of its kind in A&N islands. The festival was jointly inaugurated by Mani Rathnam, Madhur Bhandarkar, Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh.
“The Administration will host Film Festivals every year in Andaman and Nicobar Islands by clubbing the event with annual Island Tourism Festival, which is organized every year in January 2011 in these far flung Islands. I am happy that a Film Festival is being organized in these Islands, this is the first Film Festival in Andaman and Nicobar Islands but I assure you that from now every year we will host such film festivals together with Island Tourism Festival,” Mr. Singh said after inaugurating the Indian Panorama Film Festival 2011.
Other eminent film personalities such as Divya Dutta, Girish Kasaravalli, Tiainla Jamir, Supriyo Sen, Naresh Chandra Lal and Mukeshwar Lal also shared their experiences about the Indian Panorama Film Festival-2011 at the event. Later on, “Three of us and Ravanan” were screened for audience.
On the other hand Madhur tweeted “Proud moment with Mani sir after our felicitation at festival. He is always been an inspiration for me & all other filmmakers."
