Actor-turned-MP of Congress Party Govinda Ahuja has been receiving threatening calls for a long time now at his Juhu residence, Jal Darshan apartment. Govinda has officially not lodged a complaint at the police station but he has informed the important Congress party members about the threat calls. They include Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Govinda is waiting to meet his party seniors and only then will he lodge a complaint at police or take any necessary step. Govinda has not given any details about the nature of calls he received or from whom they were. But he feels that the calls are from anti-social elements who want to ruin his film career because producers may not approach him for movies if he receives threat calls. He is more scared for his son Yashovardhan (12) who studies at Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu in Std VII.
The threat calls were directly aimed at his family and their safety is of prime concern for him right now. The actor-turned-MP had conducted a family meeting on March 31 discussing ways of handling the threat calls. His brother Kirti Ahuja said that Govinda was receiving threat calls from the underworld but Govinda denies involvement of underworld. He has demanded full security from the party which the Congress members have agreed to give and as Govinda is an MP he gets X category security. He has two armed constables guarding him day and night.
But when police was approached they were not very clear about the whole threat call problem because Govinda had not lodged an official complaint. It has been reported that Dhananjay Kamlekar deputy commissioner of detection cell will take action after an official complaint. Govinda will be seen in Priyadarshan's film Bhaagam Bhaag and four of his movies are to be released soon.
