"'Rangoon' is scheduled for release on October 14. Junior will definitely arrive before that. Mira's date is around mid-September, but as it happens in most cases, the baby could arrive a few days before or after the due date," informs a source. However, keeping in mind that this is their first child and Mira is just 22, Shahid has been keeping a close eye on her. "She has started getting cravings for particular kinds of food and he makes sure to indulge her," adds the source refusing to get into details."He has also been accompanying her for visits to the doctor and when they are out, he doesn't let go of her hand or leave her side."
Mira was a third year English honours student at Delhi's Lady Sri Ram College and had interned with the United Nations. She met Shahid around November-December, 2014. In January 2015, his dad, Pankaj Kapur, who knew Mira's father as they belong to the Radha Soami Satsang Beas sect, proposed a match between the two. They tied the knot on July 7, 2015, in Delhi at the Chattarpur bungalow of Malvinder Singh, former chair man and CEO of Ranbaxy Laboratories and now part owner of Fortis Healthcare and Religare Wellness.
It was an Anand Karaj ceremony common with Sikhs. The reception was hosted the same evening at one of the capital's five-star hotels, followed by a bash in Mumbai for his B-town colleagues on July 12 .
Given that her family is settled in Delhi, will she choose to have the baby there or in Mumbai with her husband and his family with her, and maybe having her parents fly out here? "That's a call that they will take later. As of now they are just relieved that Mira is bloom ing through her pregnancy. In fact, Preity (Zinta) con gratulated her on her glow when they were at the reception to wish her and husband Gene Goodenough," points out the source.
Shahid's next film, Abhishek Chaubey's dark drug drama, 'Udta Punjab', opens on June 17, followed by Vishal Bhardwaj's Casabalanca-like love story, 'Rangoon', in October. The actor has kept himself free to promote both films and also to be with his wife through her third trimester. "He is in talks for some films but won't kickstart any project before the baby comes along. He's not planning a paternity leave but he does want to spend some time with both Mira and the baby when it arrives," adds the source.
The couple recently took a quick holiday in Maldives, returning on May 9. Earlier, they had taken off to an undisclosed destination up North to bring in his 35th birthday. They had skipped their honeymoon because Shahid was busy with work commitments then, but stole a vacation to London in August and brought in the New Year in Goa.
It's been a blissful ten months for Mr and Mrs Kapoor and according to the source, Shahid couldn't be happier. "Mira is everything he had been looking for and more," the source signs off.
