Vidya Balan has praised her 'Begum Jaan' director Srijit Mukherji, thanking him for being an embodiment of "single-minded focus".
"Thank You Srijit Mukherji for this, for 'Begum Jaan' and for being the true embodiment of 'single-minded Focus'," Vidya tweeted on Wednesday night.
'Begum Jaan', a Hindi adaptation of Mukherji's stellar Bengali offering 'Rajkahini', stars Vidya in the lead. She plays a brothel's madam in Punjab during India's Partition in 1947.
Produced by Vishesh Films and Play Entertainment, "Begum Jaan" marks Mukherji's directorial debut in Hindi films.
Vidya will also be seen in the sequel of the 2012 thriller film 'Kahaani', which has been shot in Kalimpong in West Bengal. "Kahaani" revolved around a pregnant woman named Vidya Bagchi who travels to Kolkata from London to search for her missing husband.
She will also be seen in the Kamala Das biopic in Malayalam.
