There were reports in the media yesterday stating that producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sajid Khan have come out in the open to express their support on an ongoing national debate. However, the entire issue has been misconstrued and given unnecessary political overtones. On behalf of Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan, their publicist has come up with a clarification.
"They were asked a question pertaining to the 'gag' order and they only said that they advocate 'freedom of expression' to be used responsibly considering that we live in a democracy. In the past too, they have spoken against censorship in cinema and other issues pertaining to freedom of expression. But that again has nothing to do with politics.
Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan strongly believe that they are entertainers first and have nothing to do with politics whatsoever. In fact the duo feels that entertainment is one of the factors that helps people put asides differences and binds Indians all across the world."
For the record, this is what Sajid Nadiadwala has to say, 'The reason I signed the signatory campaign has nothing to do with any political issue. It is just about supporting freedom of expression. I would like to reiterate that I have nothing to do with politics, so please keep me out of this. "
Sajid Khan seconds his views and adds "We have deep respect and faith in the media, so we would request the media to hear our side of the story responsibly and urge them to present the right picture"
