Mynaa Review
by MyMazaa.comSTORY :
The much expected Kannada cinema ‘Mynaa’ has a poignant story. The internal love more important than external love, the polio effects, dignity in life, doctor error, sacrifice in life etc packed in this film.
Sathya (Chetan) impressed with Myna (Nithya Menon) looks and simple beauty pretend as if he does not have legs. Myna likes Sathya because he is sailing in her boat. When they both fall in love suddenly Sathya has to open up his secret. On knowing that Sathya has legs Myna thinks it is end of her journey with him but Sathya loves Myna much more. That makes a good and loving life for both. Myna is software professional and Sathya is a car driver. Sathya intends to get legs somehow for Myna. At this stage a major development takes place.
A doctor attending on Myna misbehaves and he takes the nude Myna in the operation theatre after injecting her. This is what shocking for both Myna and Sathya. As expected Sathya kills doctor who is at mistake.
That doctor happens to be the brother of big politician. The things become complicated for Sathya. He is rounded off by the police but an honest cop not able to digest the charges of 35 murders on Sathya knows the poignant tale. Top cop Arun (Sarath Kumar) wants to settle all the things well but politician takes law to his hands to finish off Sathya and Myna.
ANALYSIS :
There is an immense hard work, there is excellent cinematography, and the pattern of narration from director Nagashekhar deserves good appreciation. The characters have done quite convincingly. Then what is the flaw? The developments could be easily assessed.
Nagashekhar taking one from the ‘Police File’ has done a great work in a lavishly made film. Most of the developments are shown either in railway station or in rich forest background. The mind blowing of ‘Myna’ is the cinematography the first hero of the film. There is no doubt about it.
When the female protagonist is shown always in one place in the moving train it comes to the understanding that she is the one who does not have the legs.
The stunning mood in the beginning the colorful mood in the middle and again touching tale in the end with flash back technique narration director Nagashekhar has shown a good control over the screenplay. The immense attachment he has given to the nature is outstanding than the tale he narrates.
Even in these days the cop role Suman Ranganth shaking her waist in a song number (retuned from yesteryears O Prema Poojari) the protagonist cannot identify is a foolish thought.
Lot of hullaballoo has happened for the famous song of Dr C Ashwath Kanada Kadalige Hambalisuthide Mana….in the beginning it is a not a right fitting of the song. When the concluding stanzas of the song Jatila Kananada….Serabahude….is mixed at the last reels of the film there is some right mixing for the mood.
Director Nagashekhar in this absorbing work holds the attention on the sentiment part. Once the handicap of Myna is known the audiences also get more attached to the cinema. This is another major trump card of the film.
PERFORMANCES :
It is indeed a career best performance from Chetan. In a lengthy role he is very convincing. Chetan has dubbed for this film sounds like voice of actor Dilip Raj. In the action scenes Chetan scores from his power added to the role. Chetan has the right ability to take on action and serious roles and he should get more roles from this film ‘Myna’.
Nithya Menon is so sweet like ‘Champakali’. Even in emotions she is so good. A right kind of role she has picked in ‘Myna’. It is a touching role.
Sarath Kumar as a top cop in the film has given a cool performance. When he begs for his brother advocate (played by Ananthnag) to know the difference between ‘law of books and law of hearts’ the film reaches heights.
Ananthnag, Arun Sagar, Jai Jagadish, Suhasini, Ravi Verma, Sadhu Kokila, Bullet Prakash, Tabla Naani are the right picks for the respective roles.
TECHNICALITY :
It is a spectacular work in cinematography from Sathya Hegde. This top ranking cameraman has given the visual treat what we find in National Geography. The capturing of Doodhsagar surroundings is brilliant. Sathya Hegde outstanding work deserves a few awards for him. In most difficult locations capturing the nature beauty from various angles shows the grit and determination of cameraman Sathya Hegde.
For music director Jaassie Gift the opening song and ending – one from Dr C Ashwath composition and another song of yesteryears cinema O Premada Poojari….of Geethapriya is also popular song. In between these two borrowed ones Jassie Gift song Chachida Kaige Akashave Taakide…..is well rendered and it is with full of meaning. The title song is also rich in its locations.
Jo Ni Harsha editing has no flaws and the connectivity never falls back. The re=recording of Sadhu Kokila is another plus point of this film. Many of the places there are no dialogues but background score lifts the film with cinematography giving work for the eyes.
