Snehana Preethina Review

A film on the significance of 'Friendship' and 'Love' suffers from justice to friendship €“ there is betrayal of friendship. The height of friendship is suspected suddenly. The twenty years pals separate. Finally to join again without proper 'Prayaschitta' (atonement)! Love only wins in this 'Snehana Preethina' a remake of Hindi film 'Ishq' (starring Amir Khan, Ajay Devgun, Kajol and Juhi Chawla, Johny Lever). The first half of this film moves like a bullet train and second half with usual melodrama moves like bullock cart.

When two good looking and familiar stars join together a great thing is expected. But you would not find anything worthwhile. The modifications from the original to meet the fans of Darshan and Aditya should have been done. The challenging star Darshan has no challenges in this film. 'Deadly Soma' fame Aditya has nothing deadly in this film.

Poor and rich vice versa is the case of Soorya (Darshan) and Lakshmi (Lakshmi Rai) and Adhi (Aditya) and Sindhu (Sindhu Tholani) respectively. The respective fathers of Adhi and Lakshmi have different calculations because they draw a strong line of difference between the rich and the poor. They want Adhi and Lakshmi to get married not Adhi and Sindhu. They hatch a plot to separate the poor Soorya and Sindhu in one incident. It is break of friendship and 20 years good friend Adhi suspect his friend Soorya who goes away with Sindhu from the engagement ceremony function. Sindhu is treated as sister by Soorya and the affluent parents make all arrangements for the marriage of Adhi and Lakshmi. At the marriage hall the display of some pictures change the whole calculations of cruel parents. Adhi and Lakshmi reach the airport because Soorya and Sindhu have been asked to pack off to Srilanka. The expected turn up at this place. Adhi begs with Soorya for the mistake he has done.

The happy go lucky youths Darshan and Aditya are screen stealers in the first half. In the second half it is only Darshan who scores over Adhi. Lakshmi Rai is the saving grace of this film because of the wonderful dubbing done to her role. Sindhu is average. Rangayana Radhu and Rajiv have nothing big to do. Sadhu Kokila is impressive.

Cinematography by producer Anaji Nagaraj gives a visual treat. Music by Harikrishna is once again good. Nagendra Prasad has penned lovely songs for this film.

For those who have seen the original 'Ishq' in the theatres and television this is not interesting for the week end.
