Nenjil Or Aalayam Review
by MyMazaa.comLove stories are pet themes in Kollywood. Selvah, known for action-packed flicks, has tried his hand at a romantic entertainer set in London.
The director seems to have been inspired by successful films of this genre like Shahrukh's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayengae.
Starring Navdeep and Aparna in lead roles, the movie has a huge star cast including Vadivelu, Ranjitha, Thalaivasal Vijay and Mayilsamy.
A group of 10 persons get selected in a lucky draw to visit London. They include Anandh (Navdeep), Priya (Aparna), Krishnamurthy (Thalaivasal Vijay), Kalyani (Ranjitha) and Vellam (Vadivelu).
Slowly Anand and Priya get acquainted with each other and fall in love in the alien land. Enters Rishi (Manish), a tourist guide. He resolves to separate the lovers and plans to marry Priya.
The rest is a cat and mouse game between Anand and Rishi. Thalaivasal Vijay and Ranjitha play egoistic individuals, who resolve to get the lover couple united.
Navdeep is bubbling with energy and enthusiasm. He is good at dance and stunt sequences, while Aparna oozes glamour. Vadivelu is the scene-stealer with a separate comedy track along with Mayilsamy.
Imman has come up with hummable tunes, though the stress on rhythms is unmistakable.
U K Senthil Kumar's lens has caught London beautifully.
Though there is a lack of freshness in the content that takes the focus away, director Selvah must be commended for giving us an entertaining candy floss love story.
