Apthudu Review

Peter Pan never grew up. But there was an impish attraction to him that made his mischief acceptable. But when grown up men are struck in the same groove, it becomes boring and unacceptable.

Rajasekhar is no Peter Pan. And his heroism as a youth single-handedly fighting an evil force is boring and tests your patience. It is a story that is long past its sell-by date. Towards the climax, it in fact comes across as a pastiche parody of his own films.

Bose (Rajasekhar) is an honest and hot-headed youth. He visits his brother (Chandrasekhar) in Hyderabad. But as it happens, the entire colony in which his brother lives is in the vice-like grips of Gangi Reddy (Mukesh Rushi).

So our hero rallies the entire colony against the villain, and for this his brother and father are killed. So the angry Bose is angered further and he goes on a blood-letting spree with ends in avenging his brother's father's killing. In the meanwhile, he also has a lady interest (Anjala Jhaveri) to sing and dance around.

For Rajasekhar this is role that he played time without number. Though he is good, the predictability of it all scotches all his efforts. Mukesh Rishi too in a menace-oozing villain has a caricatured role. Ditto for Anjala Jhaveri. In fact, the entire film does not rise above the stereotypes. Muthyala Subbaya, known otherwise for his sentiments-ridden stories, shows why he is not cut out for such flicks. He looks totally out of sorts as he lets the film flounder. The technical aspects of the film are also nothing to write home about.
