Gunavantha Review
by MyMazaa.comLovely star Premkumar has fumbled in selection of right script this time. His career from Nenapirali to Pallakki was fabulous. Deviating to action cinema and not convincing in it with no justification to his role he falls flat. Director Raghuvardhana has not made use of this opportunity even after two debacles behind him. The problem is with the protracted story and screenplay. The film is lacking with novelty.
Guna (Premkumar) and Uma (Rekha) are in love. Uma is a timid girl. She takes help from Guna for all silly things. In the process they become very intimate and decide to marry. In one of their outings they see the exchange of firing between Reddy brother and ACP. When all the gang members are put down by ACP the mistaken identity that crops up results Guna in a pitiable condition. Reddy's elder brother is looking for the life of Guna. On the other side Guna faces stiff opposition when Gold Reddy (Rangayana Raghu) asks him to vacate the site where Guna is building Ashram. So in the middle of two underworld dons Guna struggles hard. Guna is received well by the colony people and he hatches plot to end the menace. He succeeds in finishing off Gold Reddy because he has killed his mother. Then he comes to another Reddy who is looking for his life. In this climax Guna is supported by ACP.
There is nothing to write good about lovely star Premkumar. This is a wrong choice for him. He is not an action hero on Kannada screen. To get that tag in the film his efforts to build up muscles should have been focused. He is good in romantic roles. Rekha has the monotonous role. There is nothing to express her acting ability. Rangayana Raghu, Avinash and Sharan are boring.
Hamsalekha lyrics are not well recorded. There is a bit of melody. Cinematography by Chandrasekhar disturbs the eyes. The editing of some of the portions is impressive.
